The SCF diverse communities programme offers different formats that are outside the traditional cricketing environments to help increase participation and offer other non-traditional cricketing opportunities. The aim of these programmes is to increase aspiration levels, promote mutual respect, break down barriers and build relationships across the wider community networks in South London.

Chance to Shine Street Cricket
Chance to Shine Street is a fast-paced version of the game played with a tapeball – a tennis ball wrapped in electrical tape – in small, enclosed spaces. With six players per team and 20 balls per innings, it is cricket’s answer to five-a-side football.

ECB City Cup
The ECB City Cup offers the chance for promising young diverse players aged between 14-18 years old the chance to represent south London in a summer competition against other Core Cities such as Luton, Berkshire and Essex during the summer holidays. The hardball competition sees players involved in short format T20 games but working on their longer format skills in 40/50 over games. From this competition the winning team goes on to play against a city from the northern regional matches in a winner takes all finals day.

Dynamos Intros Programme
The Dynamos Intros programme funded by SKY and the ECB continues into it’s 2nd year. This offers the chance for more young children aged between 8-11 years old the opportunity to access cricket in even more hard to reach and diverse communities, with a real focus on targeting council estates, community centres, MUGA’s, local parks and mosques all across south London. The key aim is to develop more sustainable and longer term community sessions through partnership work with local families and key community elders.

Street Child United
In the lead up to the Street Child United Cricket World Cup 2023, we have been working with kids aged 13-17 offering weekly cricket sessions, employability and educational support, coaching sessions and mentoring with SCF staff and partners, and work experience with Surrey CCC, larger sponsors and funders. Eight young people from the programme were then selected to travel to Chennai, India to take part in the competition.
Whilst the competition has now culminated, the programme will continue.

Last Man Stands
LMS is a social outdoor 8-a-side T20 cricket game that lasts around 2 hours. All 8 wickets are needed to bowl a cricket team out. When the seventh wicket falls, the Last Man Stands on his own!
