The Surrey Cricket Foundation’s Wheelchair Cricket Programme is hosting a crucial development weekend at Stoke Mandeville Arena on 12th & 13th July. This exciting event will see a Surrey team, comprised entirely of Surrey based players, take on a GB team in a series of matches.
The primary purpose of the weekend is to test and refine new rules and playing conditions being developed by the Surrey Cricket Foundation Wheelchair Cricket Programme. This initiative is at the forefront of wheelchair cricket’s growth, aiming to create a level playing field and foster consistent gameplay across the sport. The matches between the Surrey and GB teams will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of the proposed regulations.
Leading the Surrey playing team is Lottie Chatfield, a hard-hitting top-order batter and a skilled leg spin bowler. She is supported by a strong, well rounded line-up of teammates, and a coaching team with vast experience and knowledge of disability cricket.
“This development weekend at is a significant step forward for wheelchair cricket” says Sarah Lynch, Cricket Participation Manager at the Surrey Cricket Foundation. “The matches offer a unique opportunity to test and refine the standardised playing conditions that we aspire to establish across the game.”
